Kalag-Kalag Peaceful at Cebu Port Email

     The Cebu Port Authority, spearheaded by the Port Security, Safety & Environmental Management Department (PSSED), successfully implemented OPLAN Kalag-kalag 2010 which was effective last 28 October 2010 to 03 November 2010.  There were no reported casualties, injuries nor loss of properties. The Port of Cebu was generally peaceful due to the collaborative efforts exerted by other agencies, namely, the Philippine Coast Guard-Cebu, Philippine Maritime Group 7, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA 7), Land Transportation Office 7(LTO) 7, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) 7, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO). Other port stake holders also cooperated, such as the radio volunteers group, shipping companies, Cargo Handling Service Providers, namely: OPASCOR, CIA, MECASSI, USDI, Puerto Servicio de Cebu. 

Passenger Assistance. Although there were four (4) incidents of overcharging of fares by taxi drivers,  the same were immediately forwarded to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 7 for investigation.

Medical Assistance. The cargo-handling service providers (CHSPs) at the Baseport were ready to extend medical assistance to port users in the event that an emergency case arises. In CPA Passenger Terminal 1 (Pier 1), the Cebu Integrated Arrastre (CIA) Medical Staff were stationed from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on 29-31October 2010. At CPA Passenger Terminal 2 (Pier 3), medical staff of Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (OPASCOR) were stationed at Pier 3.

      Together with the OPASCOR Medical Staff were those from Metro Cebu Arrastre and Stevedoring Inc (MECASSI) and Puerto Servicio de Cebu. They were stationed from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. on 29-31October 2010.  The OPASCOR provided a stand-by ambulance at Pier 3 to respond to any emergency situation. At CPA Passenger Terminal 3 (Berth 13), medical staff from United South Dockhandlers Inc. (USDI) were stationed for 9:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. on 29-31 October 2010. --- (PSSED)
