CPA Board welcomes new member, bids farewell to outgoing Commissioner

The CPA Board, Cebu Port Commission (CPC), has welcomed a new member of the Commission in the person of Atty. Jose Mario Elino Tan who will represent the Shipping Sector. He serves the Commission by appointment from President Benigno S. Aquino III. Before the start of the 82nd Regular Board Meeting of the CPC, the new member was welcomed by the Board as well by the employees at the Main Building of CPA and Comm. Tan in return gave a short message thanking the President Aquino and DOTC Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya for the trust and confidence entrusted to him.
The new commissioner replaced Comm. Benjamin C. Akol who also represented the Shipping Sector for the Commission for already 5 years. The CPA Board and the employees expressed their gratitude through a song and some flowers. Commissioner Akol also received a Plaque of Appreciation for his service and a photo album with a collection of pictures during his stint at commissioner.
Commissioner Ben Akol gave a short talk thanking CPA for the opportunity to serve and has expressed his support to the Cebu Port Authority in its endeavor of serving the public.
The Cebu Port Commission is composed of the Chairman who is the DOTC Secretary or his/her designated undersecretary and six Commissioners representing the business, cargo handling labor, and shipping sectors. A Vice Chairman is elected from among the six Commissioners and shall at the same time serve as CPA General Manager.
Currently the members of CPA Board / Cebu Port Commission are Alternate Chairman DOTC Undersecretary Julianito G. Bucayan, Jr., Vice Chairman / CPA General Manager VADM Edmund C Tan PCG (Ret) for Business Sector, Commissioner Tomas A. Riveral for Cargo Handling Labor Sector, Commissioner Teotimo A. Ballesteros, Jr. for Business Sector, Commissioner Joselito O. Pedaria for Cargo Handling Labor Sector, Commissioner Marino M. Fernan for Shipping Sector, and newest member Commissioner Jose Mario Elino Tan for Shipping Sector.
